Dhrubajyoti Samanta

Hello! I am a climate scientist at the Earth Observatory of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University. My research focuses on ocean and climate dynamics, particularly how ocean–atmosphere interactions and large-scale climate variability shape sea-level change, marine heatwaves, climate extremes, and regional climate impacts, with particular emphasis on Southeast Asia and the wider Indo-Pacific.

My research combines observations, global climate and Earth system models, regional atmospheric and ocean models, and data-driven approaches to understand how natural variability and human-driven climate change shape regional oceans and climate. I am particularly interested in climate attribution and in translating fundamental climate-process understanding into better projections, prediction, risk assessment, climate services, and assessments of climate change impacts.

Having worked across six countries, I bring extensive experience working in multicultural and interdisciplinary research environments. This international journey has shaped my collaborative approach and my interest in connecting regional knowledge with global climate-science efforts.

Beyond my research, I contribute to international scientific initiatives through CMIP, CLIVAR, WCRP, the UN Ocean Decade, and AOGS, as well as through editorial, mentoring, and community service.
